HDAW’s Final Night All-Industry reception will be the event of the year! The festivities will kick-off, starting at 6:30 PM Wednesday night, January 20, 2010 in the Mirage Grand Ballroom.
The CVSN 18-wheel PINEWOOD CHALLENGE is moving back to Vegas; this year with MAJOR PRIZES and a special HOT COMPETITION - all provided by NASCAR. Race fans attending the reception will have the opportunity to show their skills in the NASCAR Pit-Stop Challenge, competing against a NASCAR Pit-Crew member – changing tires on an actual Nextel Cup Car in the reception area!!
The highlight of the evening will be the annual PINEWOOD CHALLENGE, racing “Home-Made” Pinewood race trucks.
If you were ever a kid in Cub Scouts, you remember the old Pinewood Derby. Those had 4 wheels and your dad did all of the work. THESE ARE 18 WHEEL “MAN-TOYS”, BUILT BY INDIVIDUAL COMPANIES / TEAMS
You can have your dad, your engineering department, the local machine shop or tool-maker build and tune your race truck and axles…. and you or your local body shop guys can paint your “rig”.
This is serious racing for bragging rights, design rights and any rights you want…and if you win - BIG PRIZES!!!! Triangle Suspension Systems is the defending Grand Champion and they welcome all comers. The event is open to all HDAW ‘10 attending companies and will produce some real HIGH LEVEL COMPETITION, excellent networking and even a few laughs.
There will be great prizes and trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in both the Pinewood Challenge Race and Concours D'elegance. NASCAR is providing many prizes, Garage and Pit Passes and others, but THE GRAND PRIZE IS A NASCAR DRIVING EXPERIENCE Package for two. Winners will drive a real NASCAR racecar at the track, at speeds of up to 160mph!!! and of course, bragging rights for a year and the thrill of knowing you and your company is the KING of the 18 wheelers!!
What will we see at this year’s race? Who will be crowned the champion? How far will people go (cheat) to win? One thing is for sure, this year’s fleet of trucks will be better, sleeker and faster than last year and the competition on the new track will be fierce.
Work has already begun to make this the best Pinewood Challenge ever!
